PART VI · STUDIO TV

Idle screen and signage takeover

Draft — screenshots coming

Between classes the studio TV doesn't go dark. By default it rests on a branded idle screen — the gym logo over a slow-moving wash of the gym's colours, a wall clock, the studio name, and the line Strap up. Class begins shortly. If you'd rather the downtime earn its keep, assign a signage playlist: after a delay you choose, the TV plays your signage content exactly like a signage screen would — and drops it instantly when a class starts.

What you'll do

See what the idle screen shows, then assign (or remove) an idle signage playlist and set the takeover delay from the admin app.

You'll need: a paired studio TV, and — for the takeover — at least one signage playlist created under Signage in the admin app.

Steps

  1. Leave the TV untouched with no class running: the branded idle screen appears with the clock, the gym logo and the studio name.

  2. In the admin app, open Settings → Studio TVScreens and find the TV's card. Its idle behaviour is shown right on the card — the logo, or the assigned playlist name and delay.

  3. Open the card's Idle signage action. The Signage when idle sheet explains it plainly: when no class is running, this TV shows the chosen playlist after the delay.

  4. Pick a playlist — or None (show logo) to keep the branded idle screen.

  5. Set the IDLE DELAY with the stepper, from 1 to 30 minutes of no activity before the takeover starts.

  6. Save, then watch the TV: once it has sat idle past the delay, the playlist takes over the full screen.

  7. Start a class (or let a scheduled one begin — the TV checks its room every 30 seconds). The signage stops instantly and the class wall takes the screen; a tap or remote press also wakes the TV back to the Hub.

What you should see

An idle studio that either wears your brand or sells for you — and a screen that always belongs to the class the moment one starts. Class content always wins; signage only ever fills genuine downtime.

If something goes wrong

  • The idle screen says the TV isn't paired — it lost its pairing. Re-claim it from Settings → Studio TV → Screens (see the setup chapter).
  • No playlists to choose from — the sheet tells you there are none at this gym yet. Create one under Signage first, then come back and assign it.
  • The takeover never starts — check the delay: the timer restarts every time the screen is touched or a class runs. A busy studio may simply never sit idle long enough.
  • Signage is still up as members walk in — it clears the instant the class actually starts on the TV. If the class runs without the TV (no straps, never started), press any key or tap the screen to return to the Hub and start it yourself.
