Install a Hikvision face terminal

Draft — screenshots coming

A Hikvision face terminal checks members in by face at the gate. Prism does the enrolment for you: when a terminal is connected, every eligible member is pushed to it automatically — record, validity dates, access schedule and profile photo — so nobody has to be walked to the terminal to register their face.

What you'll do

Wire the terminal, activate it, add it in Prism, then push your members to it and verify with a live test.

You'll need: the terminal mounted and on the same network as your gym's staff device, the terminal's admin password, and a staff account with the device-management permission.

Steps

  1. Mount the terminal at the gate and connect it to the gym network (Ethernet is the most reliable). Note the IP address it gets.

  2. Activate the terminal and set its admin password. A brand-new terminal ships in a "not activated" state and won't accept connections until this is done. The exact activation screens vary by model and are confirmed on your real hardware during installation — your installer or Prism support walks this step with you.

  3. In Prism, open Settings → Devices & access → Terminals. The screen is titled Hardware Devices.

  4. Tap Add Device.

  5. Fill in the form: a name for the door (for example Main Entrance), Type = Hikvision MinMoe, the terminal's IP Address, Port (80 by default), the terminal's admin username and Password, and leave Enabled on.

  6. Tap Test Connection and wait for Connection successful ✓.

  7. Save the device. Prism configures the terminal's event push automatically so check-ins flow back the moment a face is matched. If you ever need to redo this, the device menu has Configure Push.

  8. Open the device's menu and tap Push all active members. Confirm with Queue — every member with a current plan is queued for enrolment on the terminal.

  9. Ask a member (or a staff member with a member record) to look at the terminal. The door should open and the check-in should appear in the Attendance tab within seconds.

  10. If anything looks off, tap Diagnose in the device menu — it shows the terminal's raw responses so support can see exactly what the hardware is saying.

What you should see

The terminal appears in Hardware Devices with a healthy status. Members walk up, get a face match, and the entry lands in the Attendance tab in real time. Members who were already enrolled manually on the terminal are updated in place, not duplicated.

If something goes wrong

  • Test Connection fails — check the IP address, port and admin password, and that your staff device and the terminal are on the same network (a guest Wi-Fi that isolates clients will block it).
  • Members were pushed but the door doesn't open — the queue needs a signed-in staff device on the gym network to drain. Open the admin app on a device at the gym and give it a minute.
  • A frozen or expired member still gets in — Prism removes their whole record from the terminal on freeze or expiry, not just a flag. Run Push all active members again and check the member's plan dates; if it persists, use Diagnose and contact support.
  • The terminal stopped responding after a power cut — its IP probably changed. Tap Re-discover devices on LAN; Prism re-matches it by serial number.
