Emergency alerts

Draft — screenshots coming

An emergency alert paints a full-screen message above everything on every paired screen — menu boards, videos and layouts all disappear behind it until it is cleared. Presets cover the moments when nobody has time to type, and a custom builder handles everything else. Audible alerts loop a siren on the TVs for as long as they are active, because a silent screen on a noisy gym floor is useless in a real emergency.

What you'll do

Fire a preset alert, build a custom one with severity and screen targeting, and clear alerts when the situation ends.

You'll need: a staff sign-in on the admin app and at least one paired screen.

Steps

  1. Open Signage from the drawer, tap Tools, then choose Emergency alerts ("Take over every screen with a message").

  2. For an instant alert, tap a preset: Evacuate now (critical, red, audible siren — the screens read "EVACUATE NOW · Please leave the building via the nearest exit."), Closed today (an amber notice), or Music off (an info-level "AUDIO PAUSED" card that suspends audio across all devices).

  3. Every fire path — presets included — goes through one confirmation dialog, Fire alert?, which states exactly what will happen: "This immediately full-screens on every paired screen right now" (or on the number of screens you targeted). Tap Fire to send it, Cancel to back out.

  4. For your own message, tap Custom alert ("Write your own message, pick severity & screens") and then Build.

  5. Enter the Title (required) and, if you want supporting detail, the Body (optional), then pick a severity — Info, Warning or Critical — each colour-coded on the TVs.

  6. Toggle Audible chime ("Play an alert tone on each screen") if the alert should be heard, not just seen.

  7. Under TARGET SCREENS, leave the selection empty to hit All paired screens, or tap screen chips to target specific screens; Target all screens resets the selection. Then tap Fire and confirm.

  8. While any alert is live, the alerts screen shows an active-alert banner with a count. Tap Clear on an alert to end it, or Clear all to end everything at once. The siren stops the instant the last audible alert clears.

What you should see

Every targeted TV switches to the full-screen alert within seconds — colour-coded by severity, with the siren looping if the alert is audible. When you clear it, each screen returns to whatever it was playing before.

If something goes wrong

  • A screen did not show the alert — check its status on the Screens page. An offline box cannot receive anything; the alert appears when it reconnects, if the alert is still active.
  • The siren keeps going — some alert is still active. Open Emergency alerts and use Clear all; the sound stops the moment the last audible alert clears.
  • You fired the wrong preset — tap Clear on it; every screen returns to normal content immediately.
